Dental Implants
A dental implant, a shaft made up of titanium and other materials compatible with your body, is surgically placed in the jaw, where it acts as an anchor for a replacement crown or tooth cap. Bone grows around it forming a tight connection, which helps slows or stop bone loss that occurs when the root of a natural tooth is missing.
Once the implant is set, a replacement tooth or crown is placed onto the top of the shaft. This permanent solution has the advantage of not stressing the surrounding teeth for support and the crown can be replaced if it wears down.
A thorough evaluation will help determine whether you are a good candidate for dental implants. If you have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant, a dental implant is an excellent way to regain the look and feel of natural teeth.
